The problem of the Russian literary language origin
The lecture is devoted to the problem of the so-called origin of the Russian literary language. An account is given of the history of this issue: the concepts of I. I. Sreznevsky, A. A. Shakhmatov, L. P. Yakubinsky, S. P. Obnorsky, V. V. Vinogradov, N. I. Tolstoy, B. A. Uspensky. The notion oflanguage situation is discussed: "monolingualism", "bilingualism" and "diglossia". Each of the main points of these concepts is illustrated by the analysis of particular texts.
