Architectural Schools of the 12th Century. The Grodno and Halych Schools
Only few of the old Grodno and Halych architectural monuments have survived by now (for example, the Kolozha Church of Sts. Boris and Gleb in Grodno). Yet, such poor material allows us to speak about some genuine architectural characteristics of these schools. Located in the South-West of Rus’ (now Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus), the Grodno and Halych schools are considered to continue the Kievan traditions, yet having their own peculiarities. The characteristics of these schools are studied along with the influence they exerted on the formation and development of white-stone architecture in Rus’.
