Literary language in the period of the "second South Slavonic influence": late 14th/first half of the 15th centuries
This lecture is concentrated on the literary language in the period of the "second South Slavonic influence": late 14th/first half of the 15th centuries. An account is given of the reasons of changes in the written system, orthography, paleography and language of manuscripts belonging to that period. The relation between the second South Slavonic influence and the general historical and cultural situation of that period in the Balkans and Rus' are discussed . Changes in the bookish language are studied in three aspects: archaisation, graecisation and slavonisation. An account is given of the new style of wording based on the example of the works of the prominent Russian hagiographer Epiphanius the Wise.
