Russia in the 16th Century. Part 2
This lecture studies the relationships between the strengthened state and the church. The Hundred Chapter Synod (Stoglavy Sobor) of 1551 is spoken about. The so-called Oprichnina is described, including its causes, process and effects. Special emphasis is laid on how the Oprichnina and Ivan IV's reforms manifested themselves in the documents of that period such as Ivan Peresvetov's petitions and the epistolary intercourse between Ivan the Terrible and Andrey Kurbsky.
