Literary Culture of the Mid-18th Century
This lecture concentrates on the mid-18th century literary life; a new type of writer emerges as well as a new system of genres and new centres of culture and literature. The literary dispute between Vasily Trediakovsky, Mikhail Lomonosov and Alexander Sumarokov is studied in terms of the authors' attitudes as well as the perception of these attitudes by their contemporaries and the successive literary tradition.
